I’m a fan of Brandilyn Collins anyway so I couldn’t wait to read Vain Empires and I wasn’t disappointed.

A group of strangers join a reality TV show all with the hopes of fulfilling their impossible dreams. But they’re quickly slapped into a quandary when they’re told to associate one of the seven deadly sins to each contestant. All believe they couldn’t possibly fit the mold while finding it easy to label one another.

I loved the action, the who-done-it, and the way each person felt justified in their assessments. When they’re threatened to reveal their biggest secret and slowly connect the clues provided by the show’s producer, I was on the edge of my seat to know each person’s secret.

Ms. Collins produces a suspenseful story that kept me flipping pages late into the night. Nothing was close to what I thought would happen and that made the story even more fulfilling.

I give Vain Empires five out of five stars.
